Day 33

Today is a perfect day.

I started the day with Tiny. It’s about 3 miles of road walk on highway as the detour for endangered Mountain Yellow-legged Frog. My right knee was killing me and I was almost limping.

The trail was back through a Buckhorn ampground. We were trying to get some water but none of the faucets worked. All the toilets were locked as well. Maybe the campground was not open yet for the season.

Soon after we came across a creek on the way back to PCT. The water was flowing and clean, the best kind!

Around 10:30, we arrived a nice Cooper Canyon campground with unlocked toilet. Amazing! We all decided to stay and ate a little something for second breakfast and took a nice group shot. (From left: Rifiki, Tiny, Me, Chill Bill)

Chill Bill and Rifiki walk fast. They were out of sight in 5 seconds. We united again at 400 miles mark around 1:30. They were sitting there for lunch and Rifiki was taking a nap. We also saw Milkshake, Olia and Tunes at the waypoint.

Milkshake left first and we all went on. After about 1 mile we saw Milkshake sitting at a picnic table with a beer in her hand. It was Camp Glendwood! Maxx was the owner and he happened to be there at that weekend! He is a trail angel as well. We were greeted with beers, sparkling water for me, followed by strawberry, brownies, and cheese burger. They even have a real toilet with soft toilet paper! It was amazing! Irene came not too long after us and joined the party!

The goal was 6.8 miles to end the day at Sulphur Spring Trail Camp at mile 406.6 with outhouse, water and 20+ tent site. Around 3 miles in, we met Andrea at a parking lot. She sat there with oranges and brownies. I didn’t know that I would miss orange this much. She is an ultra runner. We just got in in the right place at the right time for a little treat!

The end of the day was a little bit confusing. It was hard to find the campground since it was off the trail. But we made it at around 6. Everyone ate together at picnic table. Tim even decorated the table with pine cones! Later in the night we started a camp fire when it gets cold. We had 14 people camped at this site that night. That’s a first time.

I think this is by far my favorite day on trail. Everything was just perfect!
